We’re back from a long day at the plot, feeling tired and happy. I can tell you briefly that today we have
dug over innumerable beds
weeded the onions and garlic
planted out lettuce seedlings
transplanted pot-sown broad beans
pulled up all remaining leeks and donated LOADS to other allotment holders, thereby appeasing the allotment gods who will now [...]

Bad weather, good social life and crazy work schedules have all conspired recently to keep us far away from the plot (you will probably have gathered this from the dearth of posts about anything remotely allotment related), but today we managed to break our absent streak and nipped down there for an hour or so.

Some days just start out well, don’t they? Maybe it was the great company yesterday evening. Perhaps it was the good food, the sparkling wine and the amaretto. I suppose it might just have been that the sun was shining when I woke up today. Whatever the reason, I knew that today [...]

This working from home malarkey is really something, I can tell you. Today we got up at 9am (what bliss! A lie-in! On a work day!) before both settling down at our respective computers to earn our honest bucks and ensure that the mortgage gets paid. We took it in turns [...]

Once again we had a 45 minute stint of wrestling with the rampant weeds. Any more than that and the boredom makes my head go pop. The good news is, we can now see some of what we’ve planted and even some pathways. It’s good to know that we are slowly making [...]
