Easing myself in gently

I promised you news from the potager and so here it is. I’m a woman of my word. (Sometimes.)

As I’m working from home all this week (oh the bliss!) I am using some of the time this frees up to do stuff that I want to do. I did about an hour’s decorating today (we’re still trying to finish the front room downstairs. Honestly, I thought the awful blue on the walls and ceiling would show through no matter how many coats of paint we managed to throw on) and then after lunch I spent a very gentle 40 minutes in the garden.

I know, I’m not exactly in danger of over-doing it, am I? But really, that’s all the time I needed. I sowed a row or two of broad beans, pulled up some weeds in my garlic and assessed what I need to do next.

Garlic shoots

And actually there’s really not that much. The whole garden could do with a good tidy up, but that won’t take long, perhaps an hour. And a couple more of the beds need final preparation for planting come the spring. But other than that it’s all pretty much under control, which is a huge contrast to how I used to feel at this time of year when we had the allotment.
