Happy Christmas!
Well, I know that at least one regular reader has noticed that the Soup has been in scarce supply round here (thanks Gareth!). According to my archives, this is a pattern at this time of year - all my soupy thoughts seem to go into hibernation. I’d like to say that I go into hibernation too, but that’s not the case and it turns out I have surprised myself by how much work and socialising I have got done in the last few weeks.
Come the new year I will probably start to think more actively about my plans for the potager, and I am sure that will result in no end of drivel for me to post here. In the meantime I can report that the long-awaited raspberry canes arrived not that long ago - though they are currently waiting for me to plant them out at some point when the ground is not as hard as concrete. I have also taken delivery of an enormous box of seed potatoes. Once again I seem to have ordered enough to feed the entire West Midlands so I think I will have to pass some on to friends for them to plant in their own gardens. I wonder how folk would react to receiving little bags of sprouting spuds wrapped in glittery paper as presents from me this year?
Thank you all to everyone who has read P’Soup this year and extra special thanks to those of you who have left comments - it’s always nice to feel as though I’m not doing this into a vacuum. A very happy Christmas to all and may you reap bumper harvests in 2008!

Excellent idea for a gift. I for one would be happy but I imagine you could get anyone with a garden to be excited about the prospect of digging up potatoes - it’s like prospecting for gold nuggets.

Nice to see you back! Was wondering what had become of you. Happy New Year.
