Working too hard

I was coming home through Kings Heath this morning and spotted a sign announcing the imminent arrival of a Wilkinson’s store. Excellent news. It put a spring in my step.
Still, if this is what passes for excitement in my life at the moment then I really need to get out more.

Mushroom hunting

The birds and the beans

Last week I was delighted to see that my broad beans had germinated. When I sowed them I had cleverly protected them against the onslaught of the local mouse and squirrel populations by laying wire mesh over the area. As they started to poke through the soil I lifted the mesh.
