Pesky, pesky critters! I would love to grow some Spring bulbs in a pot on the balcony or patio - but I know they would last about 2 days, dug up and eaten. Can’t help but admire their cunning, and they are quite cute. Please come and have a look at my ’squashblog’ see if you could contribute with a photo? xx Matron

Matron - You might have more luck if you cover the tops of the pots with chicken wire, bent over and weighted down with a stone. When you see the bulbs start to emerge you can take the wire off. I can’t promise it will definitely work, but I’ve had some luck with it. I took a look at tour ’squashblog’ and would love to contribute, but I have no pumpkins or squash this year, having given up the allotment and only just finished converting the garden into a potager. Maybe next year.
