Herbs
Having finished preparing the appropriate bed, I have planted my herbs out in their final positions.

L-R, back to front: rosemary, mint (buried in a large pot to prevent it from taking over); curry plant, thyme; marjoram, chives; sage, variegated sage.
The plan is that this will be a permanent bed which will also contain (to the right of this picture) raspberry canes at the back and possibly the asparagus at the front, though I am still undecided and final planting positions, as always, will depend on how the whim takes me. I am not at all convinced that the herbs will survive there, but that’s partly because I have only ever grown them in pots before so I don’t really know what I’m letting myself in for, putting them in a bed.

As long as I have enough sage to stuff inside a chicken I don’t really care.

It’s going to look lovely - can I vote for some purple sage as well?

Hi!
I have been reading your blog for a couple of weeks now and have really been enjoying it.
Just wanted to say, I am sure your herbs will all be fine. I have a similar combination in a border on my allotment and they are all doing really well, even surviving cold and wet Scottish winters.
If you have more space for herbs, I can also recommend lemon balm - lovely scent and goes well in all sort of summer beverages!

Frankie - Thank you. Purple sage sounds like a good idea - I’m on it!
Pepette - Hi! Really glad you’re enjoying the blog and gladder that you said hello. Thank you for the reassurance. Lemon balm sounds good too so I’ll be sure to save room for some.

AND you have yet another award - the Egelnest Award. A word of warning with lemonbalm - it runs rampant in southern gardens so watch it!

Wow! Thank you! I really should check my comments before I write a post - I’ll have to wait until tomorrow now to acknowledge this more formally. Thanks also for the advice about the lemon balm.
