More wildlife surprises

As well as rodent drama, the garden refurb also unearthed a couple of frogs.

Garden frog

This chap was living behind the same compost bin that was home to the Brum Family Mouse. He hopped away somewhere shady and cool when I removed his hiding nook. Clearly I am a heartless wildlife home-wrecker.

This slightly smaller, but rather smiley frog had made him(her?)self quite cosy behind the plant post in the hottest, driest part of the patio, but with some encouragement sought out a damper spot when the pots were also moved.

Perching frog

I do hope they will come back and take up residence once all the disturbance dies down. I need all the help I can get when it comes to slug eradication and these guys are far better suited to the task than I am.

    Hi Clare,
Great photos. It’s amazing where frogs and toads turn up. I found a toad in my greenhouse.

Hi Sara - They were both pretty bold frogs so it was quite easy to get decent pictures of them, even if we were a bit surprised. I’m hopeful that once we really get the garden sorted we can attract more wildlife and have our own little nature reserve!
