Continuing apace

I’ve done some more preparation for the big potager project weekend. Things did not go quite a smoothly as we had hoped. Sometime ago when we started to think about doing this, we found a lovely double-door wooden storage shed that was small enough to fit where we want it to go and cheap enough not to bankrupt us. When I came to order it today I found that the company had gone into receivership. Bum. Still, the alternative I have found, while not being quite as lovely as the now unobtainable shed of our desires, will do the trick just fine and is 50 quid cheaper.

I also decided it was time to give you a taster of what we are planning to do.

potager plan

The potager will take up about two thirds of the garden, but the remaining area (to the right of this plan) won’t be tackled until we get the major building work at the back of the house done (don’t hold your breath for that - we have to save some money). There will be four large raised beds that are sub-divided. The ‘double-walled’ beds on the diagram are actually beds that will have higher walls (difficult to represent on paper). I’m just starting to plan what we might start to grow where, but will need a little more time before I show you that.

Still to find cheap slate chips…
