We, the management, would like to apologise for this break in transmission.
The busy thing continues.
Long work days (out at 6:45 this morning, home after 8 in the evening - it’s not exactly junior doctor hours, but it’s marathon as far as I’m concerned). I’m no longer completely stress free (you can blame people for that - my work would be so much easier without them), but still managing to keep some kind of a smile on my face. It maight be a manic, hysterical smile, but that’s a grin in my book and by George am I going to enjoy it.
I generally don’t like to talk about my work - well, secret agents don’t do they? But in the interests of keeping you sweet I would like to explain that part of the reason for all this activity and blog neglect is that my PhD research is really taking off. (So that’s 18 months done, only another four and a half years still to go. But possibly less. If all this being stupidly busy pays off. And trust me, I intend for it to pay off.) This is a good thing from the whole ending up with ‘Dr’ on my cheque book point of view, but a bad thing for one’s social life. And sanity.
After this weekend (and a rather nerve-wracking presentation of the research so far at a national conference - get me!), there should be time for the occasional allotment visit and the chance to blog about something other than over-crowded work schedules. Which is good. Because I’ve missed the AGM which means that the site administration and who-knows-what-else will have changed. Anything could have happened. Every time I drive past the allotments I can see a notice on the gate. I can’t read it, but in my imagination it’s a sign telling me to keep away because my plot is so full of weeds I am no longer allowed to be seen down there during daylight hours.
Which, at the moment, is no great hardship because I can’t remember the last time I had a daylight hour free.
Normal service will be resumed shortly. In the meantime, here’s some crappy lift music for you to enjoy…

I love elevator muzak, me - reminds me of the Blues Brothers and the original Dawn of the Dead. Ahhh, happy days.
Good luck with the work/sanity balance thing mate - don’t stress about the blog, we’ll wait for you
