Back to my roots
Bad weather, good social life and crazy work schedules have all conspired recently to keep us far away from the plot (you will probably have gathered this from the dearth of posts about anything remotely allotment related), but today we managed to break our absent streak and nipped down there for an hour or so.
There’s a lot to do, particularly digging - there’s loads of that. So dig we did. Of course, it doesn’t really look as though we’ve made much of an impact so far which is disheartening to say the least. The good news is that my broad beans have germinated and there are signs of life in the ’sown far too early’ root bed - my onions are sprouting, I think there may be some carrot germination and there is definitely a radish or two.
Crazier work schedules this week mean that we’re unlikely to get back down there again until Sunday at the earliest, unless I can persuade Owen to make a trip without me. The asparagus bed really needs weeding, you know…
