20 February 2007
Just put me in some great shoes and I’ll be unbeatable!
February can be a difficult month to get through - something that seems to have been on others’ minds too. I have certainly been struggling the past couple of days with some worrying and stressful work that has filled up my head and turned my guts into some kind of acrobatic troupe. Today I feel as though I worked an entire week in a few short hours.
That said, I’m happy with how I handled some difficult situations at work today. In fact, I think I would go so far as to say that I was pretty bloody amazing, thank you very much. This is not something that I generally feel able to say about myself.
In recognition of this sterling effort and in order to help me relax I have spent this evening treating myself - by henna-ing my hair. It’s a rare and, perhaps, confused individual who finds the rigmarole of henna relaxing; laying acres of newspaper over every surface of the still-new bathroom, moisturising all over the hairline so you don’t end up with orange streaks down your face, plastering stinky green mush into your locks and then sitting with a head wrapped in cling film. Me being me, I loved it.
I’ve a way to go before I return to this kind of colour from way back when I had been using henna for years. But for now I can face tomorrow’s stresses happy in the knowledge that I survived today and that if nothing else, I’ve got gorgeous, shiny, auburn hair.
