Pumpkin Soup

a weblog with an allotment attached

4 February 2007

And luckily I didn’t have a hangover, either!

Some days just start out well, don’t they? Maybe it was the great company yesterday evening. Perhaps it was the good food, the sparkling wine and the amaretto. I suppose it might just have been that the sun was shining when I woke up today. Whatever the reason, I knew that today was going to be a good one.

Today we have tidied our shamefully messy back garden, putting away plant pots, retrieving tools and equipment that had become scattered in heavy winds, and piling mounds of dead plant matter into the compost bins. At the allotment we dug, weeded and sowed seed, returning home feeling smug and happy.

Now I’m going to reward myself with a hot mug of mocha and sit down to do some work on my PhD. I have a tutorial tomorrow and in spite of the fact that this has been the source of much stress recently, today I feel inspired and creative enough to write something.

More days like this, please.
