Here at P’soup Towers we don’t like going grocery shopping. We’re a bit lazy, if truth be told, and will quite often put it off as long as we possibly can without actually having to miss meals. Sometimes this can inspire us to acts of culinary creativity as we attempt to rustle up [...]

Being rather preoccupied (with chocolate, it seems) I completely forgot to mark the occasion of P’Soup’s second birthday a little over a week ago. Pumpkin Soup has reached the terrible twos!
So watch out for the tantrums and strops. And I bet you can’t wait for the potty training either, can you?

February can be a difficult month to get through - something that seems to have been on others’ minds too. I have certainly been struggling the past couple of days with some worrying and stressful work that has filled up my head and turned my guts into some kind of acrobatic troupe. Today [...]

We’re in for another weekend of allotment neglect. Later this evening we’re off to visit my Dad and then tomorrow we head to Weymouth to see Owen’s parents.
I’m hoping that the weather will be good enough for us to go paddling…

In a spirit of affection I would like to wish all P’Soup readers a warm and rosy (see what I did there?) St. Valentine’s Day - and I would also like to issue this challenge:
Tell someone you are not romantically linked with that you love them.
This is my way of reclaiming the day from the [...]

As well as having exciting musical events this weekend - marred only slightly by the worry engendered by our bassoonist arriving 24 hours later than we were expecting him (does that still count as fashionably late?) - we also took our chocolate fountain out for its maiden voyage.
1250g (yes, really - over a kilo) of [...]

The snow shows no sign of stopping here - the sky is full of it. The roads are slow and getting worse and people’s tempers are fraying. I just heard a woman who had been driving down our street leap out of her car (once she’d swerved to a stop) and scream at [...]

Fed up with this mild, pathetic excuse for a winter? Need some really cold weather? Snow, perhaps? Never fear. Here at Pumpkin Soup we have just the thing. Simply speak the following words:
It’s still a bit early for both carrots and onions so I’m taking a little risk, but I’m hoping they [...]

Yesterday’s jolly down the plot saw us start to make use of the previously prepared root bed. It would be a real breakthrough for me to achieve at least some success in this area of vegetables as I’ve never tried to grow carrots or parsnips before. We eat loads of them here - [...]

Some days just start out well, don’t they? Maybe it was the great company yesterday evening. Perhaps it was the good food, the sparkling wine and the amaretto. I suppose it might just have been that the sun was shining when I woke up today. Whatever the reason, I knew that today [...]

I know it’s warm and sunny out there but still, Spring just can’t come quickly enough for me.
