Broad bean update

My Red Epicure seeds arrived last week - and very exciting they look too. According to the packet they “have a taste [Unwins] consider to be unequalled.” This bodes well for when I come to eat them, but does mean that I’m probably too excited to wait before I plant them. If you’re a seed company and you go around making claims like that you know I’m going to just head right on out and sow the blasted things straightaway - more about that in the near future.

In other broad bean news (I’m on the verge of starting a new category here…) it turns out I ordered even more varieties than I thought I had. Thanks to a surprise delivery from the OGC I find that as well as the other types of broad bean I will be trying this year, I will also now be growing Green Windsor. So that’ll be six varieties to taste.

I’d better send a severe weather warning to the Met Office now.

Phew! I thought I was being OTT with two varieties - but they are lovely - maybe I could run to another packet…

Frankie - looks like we’ve got our very own broad bean appreciation society!
