There must be 50 ways to leave your lover, and…

Spiders are not the only beasties thriving on the summer we’ve had. The slugs are back covering everything with slimy goo. Or Gooey slime. Whichever - it’s everywhere (even on the living room carpet! What the…?).

I think I have already mentioned the utter joy I experienced when I found slug pellets that Garden Organic are happy for us organic-y types to use. They’re effective, but not cheap, so are only to be used sparingly. How else to keep the disgusting, squelchy things at bay?

Slug book

When my Dad was here last week he brought me this thinking it would bring a smile to my face and be useful - successful on both counts! It contains plenty of sound advice for tackling slug infestation, with ideas ranging from the commonplace (using beer traps), through the creative (spraying using a mixture of liquidised Yucca and water), to the downright sadistic (peg them to your washing line and watch them dry out). Put it on your wish list, or pick one up for a gardener friend. It’ll be Christmas before you know it.

Yes, I really did just use the C word.

Slugs do have an uncanny knack for bringing out violence in even the most calm and peace-loving individuals. Yeauch.
