Out of our trees
We’ve had another fine, but tiring weekend having final rehearsals for our big concert next weekend. We’re all starting to get a bit nervous, but we’re also all playing together in a much more polished way now and starting to sound like a trio rather than three separate musicians who happen to be tootling at the same time in the same room. You’re just going to have to trust me when I say that this is much more difficult to do than you might think. But it makes the difference between a listenable experience and a truly musical performance.

Of course, this does mean that the allotment has remained completely undisturbed all weekend, and this will also be the case next weekend as well. But what else can I do? By the time we do finally get down there it will be officially spring, I will be anxious about all the jobs I haven’t managed to get done before everything starts to grow, and feeling like I’m playing catch-up.
But I do have plans that should help us to get considerably more done this year than we had previously thought possible. Tempted with offers of food and alcohol, a bunch of our mates has agreed (at least provisionally) to come over for a weekend in May (I know, it’s a long way off but it’s the earliest I can fit it in!) and help us to construct the raised beds that will make maintenance of our plot much easier. I expect there to be a lot of hard work, but also bad puns and possibly the odd bashed thumb.

Given that most of these guys are also coming to our gig next weekend, I think it’s fair to say that we’ve got the best friends in the world ever.
With many thanks to Phil and Viv’s neighbour and friend Mike - whose surname I don’t know - for the fab pictures of the Atavar Trio.
Wow, what a transformation! Good luck with your first big gig.

I’ve heard about your oboe, young man - you’ll have someone’s out with it I tell you!
And yes Clare, of course and oboe is a boy thing
