Pumpkin Soup

a weblog with an allotment attached

17 February 2006

Abandoning our green-fingered duties once again.

Alas, we will not be able to tend our plot this weekend as we will be rehearsing strenuously (no special support underwear required) with the Atavar Trio for our debut concert in a month’s time.

The weekend is going to be huge fun (and possibly slightly drunken), but we’re also at the ’starting to get a bit stressed and nervous about it all’ stage of the proceedings that is so necessary for a good concert, but a bit of a strain to get through, so I expect we’ll be feeling tense at times.

Flute and music

In spite of being just as neglectful as usual of our plot I have made definite plans that next weekend we will be working our way through allotment jobs in a wildly ambitious way - though I must get my hair cut first. We will be laying black plastic (masses of it) to suppress weed growth in the rotorvated half of our plot, preparing beds for parsnips and carrots and deciding where the asparagus bed will be. Best of all, we’ll be drinking tea, getting our hands dirty and pretending that we don’t have loads of practice to do for our forthcoming performance.

Fantastic photograph, you should publish it as a postcard or make your own greeting cards with a picture like that. Would really like to read your future observations on carrot growing.

Gentlemen, thank you. I’m blushing. Or perhaps my cheeks are red from the wine!

Mr Gnome: I’ll be interested to see my observations on carrot growing too - I’venever done them before so it could be disastrous!
