Yes, indeed. One year ago today Pumpkin Soup was brought blinking, mewling and puking into the virtual world. Hard to believe, isn’t it?
As with any infant, growth and development are something of an individual process and it’s taken me pretty much up until now to find my way with caring for a blog. And while I think it’s only fair to mention that I’ve had more success with Pumpkin Soup than I have with actual pumpkins, I am hopeful that just like my tomato seedlings, my horticultural skills will start to grow and, hopefully, thrive.
You might have noticed a few changes of late. Being able to take pictures has made a big difference and has also led to more frequent posting (is this a good thing?). You can see more of my photos if you click on the all new(ish) Flickr link on the right hand side. There are some pictures of the plot there that I have stuck notes on so you can see what I am currently growing where and what still needs a lot of work.
I still have more ideas and hopefully you will spot them as they start to appear. At some point in the next couple of months, there may even be a funky new redesign to unveil. If you have any suggestions of what you would like to see here, please let me know. I can’t promise that I will act on anything that any of you say, but if you come up with a good idea I think it’s a fairly safe bet that I will use it and shamelessly take the credit for coming up with it all by myself.
What level of maturity did you expect from a one-year-old?

Now that the blog is coming along nicely, you can begin to devote more time to that other responsibility: the allotment!

What was that about a redesign? Blimey. Haven’t I got enough to do with upgrading you to WordPress 2.0? And no, paying me in potatoes won’t allow me to buy business cards!

Happy Birthday! To be perfectly honest, I love the site design, simple and effective. I guess it was part of the inspiration for my re-design. As for the photo’s, I feel the more the better!

WiZeR: Thank you for the compliments about the design - all down to my willing digging assistant. We’ll be living with it for a while longer, but I am hoping that he will want to spruce us up a bit. With something equally simple and effective, naturally!
