Sleigh bells ring - are you listening?
Is anyone else really looking forward to Christmas? If not, you might want to look away now.
I know that traditionally this is a time of great stress and family conflict, not to mention over-spending, over-feeding and over-drinking as well as watching telly until one’s eyes bleed. It’s enough to make a right old Ebeneezer out of you. So apologies to all you ‘Bah humbug’-ers out there (be careful how you say that). I don’t want to offend any readers, but I’m expecting to have a fab old time. And I can’t wait!
We’ve got various members of my family coming to stay, we’re going out to a couple of parties (I’ve been invited by people who are extremely tolerant of my party behaviour!) and we’ve even got some murder and intrigue planned. Most importantly, after Thursday I will not be doing any work whatsoever for an entire fortnight! It will be over a year since I had quite such a break and I am ready for it, I can tell you.
Walking in a winter wonderland? I don’t think so. Skipping, dancing, jumping and whooping with joy, more like it.

I’m a half-bah humbugger, but I have to say I’m looking forward to no-work for 2 weeks. Still, I have to say that me & the mistress have decided that next Xmas is a no-present Xmas. Instead we are going to set up a charity gift page on the WB blog and friends and family can buy a goat, etc. instead of wasting their money on more crapola we don’t need. Bleeding consumerism making zombies of us all… grumble grumble

I know what you mean. But it’s also difficult when people want to give you something to show their appreciation and love.
When family members have asked me what I want and I say ‘nothing’ or suggest that they make a donation to charity, they sometimes give me a slightly wounded look. I’m not sure how to get around that!
