Pumpkin Soup

a weblog with an allotment attached

15 December 2005

Did you miss me?

Where did the time go? I’m a bad, bad pumpkin souper, neglecting my audience so! (Rather like my allotment.)

Owen and I had planned to spend two days down there this week. We took time off and everything. Did it happen? Well, no. I still had work to do from home, and there were loads of Christmas type things to do too, so no digging trips for us, as it turned out.

I take comfort knowing that at this time of year all hell should not be breaking loose down at our patch, but I still feel guilty, and that I’m a fraud.

Still, with chocolate fingers dunked in boozy cream to look forward to I should be able to console myself.

That allotment is becoming the Miss Havisham of plots. I’m sure our neglect will come back to haunt us… ;)

Raised bed frenzy? You do have an uncanny knack of making gardening-related talk sound so rude!

But yes, I feel suitably shamefaced.

I have a gift (knack? Pah! too limited!) of making anything and everything sound filthy. My mother despairs and the poor mistress of the house wears a frankly embarrassed look whenever we are in polite company together. I blame Frankie Howard. Well… not ‘blame’ as much as thank, but you know what I mean ;-)

I hope you save some choclolate fingers and boozy cream for me. Looking forward to Christmas with you and Owen.

    Much love.

    Dad.
