Size matters
I’m feeling decidedly inadequate regarding my lack of allotment activity. I know that time and weather have been against me a bit, never mind whatever personal obstacles I might have put in the way. But I’m starting to get anxious about what we haven’t done…
I know, I know, it’s important just to do little bits and then gradually over time the little bits add up to a lot.
My little bits just seem a lot smaller than anyone else’s.
This is not a competitive thing, I don’t feel the need to race. It’s more that I’m wondering where the dividing line is between ‘a little’ and ‘too little’. Or even between ‘too little’ and ’so very little that we’re actually talking about someone who has effectively abandoned her allotment and who is deluding herself that she’s still actually doing something useful’.

Hey! Don’t be so hard on yourself! It’s partly just ‘that time of year’, partly your worklife at the moment and partly (as you mentioned before) your need to tend to yourself - these things are keeping you from the allotment and making you feel bad. Don’t go beating yourself up as well. Let this time flow over you and past you - take small, quick jobs on at the allotment and soon things will begin to reset themselves. Have you begun to draw up your plans for the allotment rotation & layout? If not then I, Dr Burro (MD*), am sure this would help – and I’ll show you mine if you show me yours
Dr HB – like the pencil, always write! (wa wa wa waaaaaaaaaa, aye thank youse).

p.s. I told the mistress of the house about your post title – her eyes went misty and she seems to drift off into a trance before leaving the room with a heavy, sad sigh. Very odd behaviour, don’t you agree?

Well, over here in Preston it’s lovely - cold, but snow, ice and (amazingly) rain free. Not sure about the Land of Pumpkin Soup though.
p.s. Gnome - love your blog but last time tried to leave a comment I couldn’t as I’m not a Blogger member.
