And the beans go on…

Much as we adore french beans, our consumption simply can’t keep up with the amounts that our small amount of plants are providing. Blimey, but they’re prolific. We’ve already given loads away to our friends Sally & Richard, and more to our pals in Nottingham, Phil & Viv. I’ve become some kind of vegetable-giving, non-seasonal Santa.

Tonight I’m going for a Chinese meal with my friend and colleague Anne. She doesn’t know it yet, but she’s the next recipient…

Friends are great for dumping veg on! Everyone who knows me has at the least benefitted from a bunch of runner beans. Are they your Blauhildes that are doing so well? my pods that I left to form seeds for next year have just been savaged by slugs. Gah!

A bit of everything - Blauhilde, Neckar Gold, Neckar Queen and some runners. We try to pick them all young and small, but keep ending up with a few ‘lurkers’ that turn into monsters.
