Pumpkin Soup

a weblog with an allotment attached

Back in business

You might have noticed that I’ve been out of blogging action for a while. It’s not like me, is it? Usually I can’t wait to bore you to tears with the minutiae of my allotment life. But it’s been a very stressful few weeks, for a variety of reasons and Pumpkin Soup has had to take a back seat.

Owen and I are on leave this week so I will probably make up for lost time. We’re not going away (more’s the pity), but we are enjoying ourselves immensely listening to very loud music and finishing off decorating the office (we’ve been working on it for nine months - would having a baby have been less painful, I ask myself?).

But don’t worry. Though somewhat neglected over the past few weeks, our plot is still very much in our minds. In a few more minutes (once Owen’s washed his brushes!), we’re off down to the plot to do some much-needed tidying up.

It’s good to be back, people. There will be more updates in the next few days. Several more, no doubt. Rather like those tardy courgette plants that keep you waiting for ages while you dream of rataouille and roast zucchini and then surprise you with such a huge glut that you can’t even pay your friends to take the excess.

You have been warned.

Ha! courgettes - Ryan won’t even look at another courgette. We harvested some monsters the other day after the rains and he wouldn’t let me bring them home, he insisted that we put them on the ‘free veg’ bench. I felt like I had left some small children behind :(

Welcome back! I find that my courgettes got up to speed and then when I had grand plans of what I wanted to make with them and how I was going to use them slowed right down again!

It’s the Chard I have too much of, remind me next year not to plant so much considering that I’m the only one who will eat it! :)
