Staff cuts

Another brief sojourn to the allotment this evening. We managed to finish cutting back the green manure on the patch that will very soon become the big pumpkin bed (that’s a big bed rather than somewhere where we intend to grow giant pumpkins capable of being magically transformed into deluxe carriages by my very own fairy godmother - I’ve already found my Prince Charming, thank you very much, and what a delightful under-gardener he makes). It’s finally starting to look pretty good (if you ignore the lush, tall, bushy green manure in the places we haven’t reached yet…) which is encouraging.

I will, however, be without my gardening assistant for the remainder of the week as Owen goes to the big smoke on Wednesday for some conference or other.
