Go away world
I’m allowing myself a gentle day as some work I did yesterday left me feeling pretty bruised emotionally and I feel like saying a big ‘fuck you!’ to the world.
So, as I take it easy in preparation for an afternoon’s frenzied (well, OK, not ‘frenzied’ as much as ‘light’ - let’s be realistic) digging, I’ve been reading Bob Flowerdew’s Complete Book of Companion Planting, pages 92-3, to be specific, about the spacing of plants. It makes for very interesting, if frustrating reading. Interesting because there are so many exciting options. Row or block? Triangular? Hexagonal? Or quincunx (there’s a word you don’t see every day!)? Clearly, my strategy of ‘just bung ‘em in the ground and hope for the best’ is not going to cut the mustard!
It’s all rather frustrating, however, because there’s still much too much work to do down at the darling (by which I mean ‘bastard’) plot to really be even thinking about letting myself put anything in the soil. Bitten off more than I can chew? Probably. Sensible enough to know when I’m beaten and throw in the towel? Never!
Well, not before my back starts to ache.
